Let's create new ways to live together
In recent years, animals have gradually occupied a more important place in our lives, and in the places we live. For some of us, this means only additional inconveniences, and it's certainly true that problems exist – it's already difficult enough for humans to get along with one another! But other people see an opportunity to be seized: for them, it is through living with animals and plants that we have become human.
As Gilles Clément tells us in his book of the same name, "Toujours la vie invente" ("Life is ever inventive"), we should take this statement as an invitation to extend the adventure of invention together with non-humans, whether animal or vegetable. So let's innovate, explore and discover new ways to live together, with all the difficulties and inventiveness that this entails, as well as the shared surprises and happiness that they bring.
Let's also consider how the problems of cohabiting with other living beings present themselves and are resolved in Stockholm, Turin, Barcelona, São Paulo, Nanterre, Liège, Grenoble, Nantes, Geneva and Lyon…
We will discover original and innovative solutions, stories of resourcefulness and ingenuity, often full of humour. All the living beings involved in these stories have one thing in common: they give humans the chance the construct new links with one another. As we will see, at the crux of these stories is a recurring theme: plants and animals make us more human.
